The richness of the Peruvian waters

A great many rivers and over 2 thousand kilometres of coast give Peru an unrivalled diversity of water-based species. The sustainable management of the resources alongside favourable climatic conditions and high quality preparation ensure that Peruvian seafood is highly sought-after by gourmet palates around the world.

Sustainable resources

Thanks to its favourable climatic conditions, the Peruvian ocean is highly productive. It has a great variety of hydrobiological resources that are approved for a modern and fruitful fishing industry. Among the most notable species are anchoveta (Peruvian anchovy), giant squid (pota), king prawns, perico (Mahi Mahi), scallops, mackerel, and bivalve molluscs, to name just a few.

A wide and plentiful ocean makes its generous offering each lunar month. The coast of Peru is fed by an invaluable number of species that have allowed the country to expand the development of its aquaculture industry, not only in terms of marine resources but also with farmed species, such as the trout in the Andes and the paiche in the Amazon. Within the framework of respect and veneration for the conditions of the natural world, the species are caught and cultivated in line with current fishery standards and regulations, based on principles of sustainability and responsibility.

These varieties are considered to be products of high added value that are then traded in over 100 markets around the world, transporting the name of Peru to distant corners of the globe and proving highly attractive to the world’s most sophisticated gourmets.
